FEBRUARY 2018 MEETING

At the 05 DEC 2017 meeting, membership voted to suspend the January 2018 meeting and schedule the next meeting for Tuesday, February 6.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - 

A birthday party to celebrate Jake Burridge's 100th Birthday will be held on Thursday, 
January 25 in the VFW Hall 1200 - 1500 hrs.  

All are invited to stop by, share some refreshments and lend your best wishes to Jake.

DECEMBER 2017 MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 5 at 1900 hrs in the VFW Hall on County Road.

VETERAN'S DAY REMEMBERANCE

NOVEMBER 10 - The annual free luncheon for all Ipswich Veterans and their spouses will be held at the 1640 Hart House, Linebrook Road on Friday at 1130.

Veteran's do not have to be a member of a veteran's organization, but all are requested to where some indication of their affiliation.

NOVEMBER 11 - The annual parade will form at the Veteran's War Memorial of South Main Street at 1030.  Ceremonies will commence promptly at 1040.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, the parade will form and march to the VFW Hall on County Road for a reading of the Governor's Proclamation and refreshments.

NOVEMBER 2017 MEETING

IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE:  Due to Election Day falling on the first Tuesday of the month, the VFW Hall will not be available for use.  The November meeting has been rescheduled for 
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8 at 1900 hrs in the VFW Hall.

UPDATE:  There are no local elections scheduled this year, so the VFW Hall is now available.  
Our monthly meeting will be held on the regular first Tuesday of the month, NOVEMBER 7.  
Sorry for any confusion.

UPCOMING EVENTS OF INTEREST

OCTOBER 8 - A memorial service will be held at 1200 hrs at the Plum Island Bridge for SGT Donald Wilkerson 
on the 50th anniversary of his death in Vietnam.

OCTOBER 14 - The North Shore Vets Summit will be held at North Shore Community College, 300 Broad Street, Lynn MA starting at 0830.

OCTOBER 20 - A ceremony honoring Korean War Vets, along with a medal presentation by representatives of the Republic of Korea, will be held at 1600 hrs at the Ipswich High School.

OCTOBER 2017 MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 3 OCT 17 at 1900 hrs at the VFW Hall on Topsfield Road.

IPSWICH DINNER BELL

On Monday, 11 SEP 17, Post 80 will sponsor the Ipswich Dinner Bell at the Masonic Hall on Topsfield Road.

Approximately 15 volunteers are needed from 1600 - 1800 for set-up, service, and clean-up.  
Please contact the Post Commander if interested and available.

NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY

The Essex County Sheriff's Department is sponsoring an event in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day on Friday, 15 SEP 17 at 1000 hrs, 20 Manning Avenue, Middleton MA.

SEPTEMBER 2017 MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 5 at 1900 hrs at the VFW Hall on County Road.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

On SEP 9 @ 1900, the Boston Red Sox are sponsoring an veteran's appreciation night before the game with the Tampa Bay Rays.  Special consideration is being given to WWII US Navy SeaBees, 

and Jake Burridge is going to be the guest of honor.

Post members interested in attending the ceremony and game should contact the Post Commander for further details.  "Car Pooling" by bus will be considered if enough interest.

IPSWICH DINNER BELL

Post 80 is sponsoring the Ipswich Dinner Bell on Monday, September 11.  

Volunteers will be needed for set-up, food service and break down.  
Interested members should attend the September meeting or contact the Post Commander.

AUGUST 2017 MEETING

Due to the Independence Day holiday falling on the first Tuesday of July, members voted to suspend the July meeting and hold the next meeting on Tuesday, August 1 at the VFW Hall on County Road.

FLAG DAY

The annual Flag Day ceremony to decommission old and worn flags will be held on Wednesday, June 14 @ 1800 hrs.  Members will be located behind the VFW Hall on County Road.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 6 @ 1900 hrs at the VFW Hall on County Road.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES AND SERVICES

 

 May 19 - 21 Poppy Drive Weekend

    Meet bus at the VFW Hall @ 0730.

May 25 - 13 Fold Ceremony
     Members are invited to attend the 1730 ceremony at Cable Gardens, County Road.  More information will follow.

May 26 - Decoration of Graves
    Meet at cemetery at 1800. 

May 28 - Religious Services
     UPDATE - The annual memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich.  It is requested that any member attending wear the uniform of their respective post, and form up NLT 0900 in front of the church for the 0930 Mass.

     Form up at Civil War Memorial @ 0930.

MAY 2017 MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 1900 hrs in the VFW Hall on County Road.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is an important meeting as it will include nominations of Post Officers, planning for Poppy Drive Weekend and the Memorial Day events.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING

A meeting of the Scholarship Committee will be held on Tuesday, May 11 @ 1400 in the VFW Hall on County Road.

Please note the change in time from 1300 to 1400 hrs.

APRIL 2017 MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at 1900 hrs at the VFW Hall on County Road.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING

A meeting of the Post 80 Scholarship Committee will be held at 1300 hrs on Tuesday, April 11 at the VFW Hall.  Scholarship applications will be reviewed at that time and the 2017 winner selected.

MEMORIAL FOR DECEASED MEMBER

A memorial for deceased member Charlie Laughton will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at the Cowles - Highland Cemetery.  A cemetery monument will be dedicated at that time.  

Exact times will be passed when final arrangements are made.  
All members are welcome to attend.

IPSWICH DINNER BELL

Membership has tentatively agreed to sponsor an Ipswich Dinner Bell on Monday, September 11, 2017.
